About Acne

Acne is a common skin condition which occurs when your hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. This can then lead to large spots which are painful or hot to touch. Ache can affect people of all ages but its most common amongst teenagers going through puberty.

Acne usually appears on your forehead, face, chest and upper back due to the excess sebum (oil) production in these areas. Depending on the severity of your condition, acne can vary from person to person but most commonly it resembles large, solid painful bumps on the skin which can be pus filled and eventually lead to scarring to the skin.

Certain things or lifestyle choices may trigger or worsen acne. The most common triggers are hormonal changes/puberty, some medication, stress and even diet. If acne persists or it is severe, you may want to consider medical treatment to control it.

Acne treatments and medications work by reducing oil production or/and by treating the bacterial infection. The types of treatment can vary between topical and oral medication. You may not see the results immediately, but this does not mean the treatment is not working.  It could take several weeks before you notice any improvements in your skin. Although acne cannot be cured, it can be controlled with treatment, which can ultimately make you feel happier and more confident in your skin.

The earlier you start your treatment, the lower your risk of further skin complications. If you would like to start your journey to better skin, please complete the online consultation to purchase the best treatment for you.
