Thrush symptoms in women.

Do you have a white discharge from your vagina? It may look cottage cheese, with no smell. Additionally, you may have irritation around the vagina.Do you have soreness and stinging during sex? Is it sore when you pee? All these are symptoms of Thrush.

Thrush symptoms in men.

Do you have Irritation, burning or redness at the head of the penis? Is there a white discharge, like cottage cheese? Additionally you may have difficulty pulling back the foreskin.

Only use this product if you have been previously diagnosed by your doctor as having thrush. The active substance in Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule is fluconazole. Fluconazole belongs to a group of medicines called azoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of infections such as thrush.

How do you take the Canesten oral capsule?

If Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule has been prescribed for you by your doctor, follow any instructions he/she may have given you.

If you purchased this product without a prescription, follow these directions closely: The full course of treatment consists of a single Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule. The capsule is to treat thrush at the site of infection and should be swallowed whole with a glass of water (with or without food). The symptoms of thrush should disappear within two days of treatment. If no improvement is seen after seven days, you must tell your doctor

Like all medicines, Canesten Thrush Oral Capsulecan cause side eects, although not everybodygets them.As with all medicines, some people may beallergic to the capsule. If you are allergic, a reaction will occursoon after you have taken it. If you experience an allergicreaction, stop using this product and tell your doctor straightaway or contact the Accident and Emergency Departmentof your nearest hospital.Signs of an allergic reaction may include:

Rash.

Swallowing or breathing problems.

Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.

Weakness, feeling dizzy or faint.

Nausea.If you experience any of the following, please contact yourdoctor or pharmacist immediately – you may need urgentmedical attention:

Severe condition with blistering and peeling of the skin,mouth, eyes or genitals.

Liver disorders with symptoms such as yellowing of theskin or eyes, dark urine or pale stools.

Seizures

Change in heart rhythm or rate.Additionally, if any of the following side eects getsserious, or if you notice any side eects not listed in thisleaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.Common side eects (may aect up to 1 in 10 people) are:

headache

stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, feeling sick, vomiting

increases in blood tests of liver function

rashUncommon side eects (may aect up to 1 in 100 people)are:

reduction in red blood cells which can make skin paleand cause weakness or breathlessness

decreased appetite

inability to sleep, feeling drowsy

fit, dizziness, sensation of spinning, tingling, pricking ornumbness, changes in sense of taste

constipation, indigestion, wind, dry mouth

muscle pain

wheals, blistering (hives), itching, increased sweating

fatigue, general feeling of being unwell, feverRare side eects (may aect up to 1 in 1,000 people) are:

lower than normal white blood cells that help defendagainst infections and red blood cells that help to stopbleeding, respectively causing recurrent infections likecold and flu and increased bleeding/blood thinning (ifyou cut yourself)

red or purple discoloration of the skin which may becaused by low platelet count, other blood cell changes

blood chemistry changes (high blood levels ofcholesterol, fats)

low blood potassium

shaking

hair lossFrequency not known, but may occur (cannot be estimatedfrom the available data):

hypersensitivity reaction with skin rash, fever, swollenglands, increase in a type of white blood cell(eosinophilia) and inflammation of internal organs (liver,lungs, heart, kidneys and large intestine) (Drug Reactionor rash with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms(DRESS)).
