Benacort contains a medicine called triamcinolone acetonide. This belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids which means it is a type of steroid. It is given as a spray in the nose to treat the nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis.

Dosage and usage Two sprays into each nostril in the morning or one spray in the morning and one spray in the evening. Try to start this nasal spray before you come into contact with whatever caused the allergy.

Side Effects

Benacort nasal spray shouldn’t be used by certain groups of people unless they have been seen by a doctor first. See your doctor before using Benacort if any of the following apply to you:

you have a nasal or sinus infection or a fever you have problems with ulceration in your nose you have recently had an injury or surgery to your nose you have tuberculosis you have a chest infection you have a problem with your liver you are, or have recently been, using any other product containing a corticosteroid, including creams, ointments, tablets, asthma medicines, eye drops or other nasal sprays or drops you are taking certain other medications (see end of factsheet for details) you are pregnant.
