What is Benylin chesty cough used for?

Benylin Chesty Cough Original is a medicine which is used to help relieve coughing and related congestion symptoms. The liquid contains diphenhydramine which is an antihistamine that helps relieve coughing and dry secretions in the nose and chest and levomenthol which helps you breathe more easily by relieving congestion.

What causes a cough?

Colds and flu are the most common cause of a cough. However, it can also be the sign of a chest infection. You may cough up green or yellow mucus. Anther symptom of a chest infection is a high temperature. Other lung conditions can cause a cough. Allergies can also lead to coughing. In addition, check with your doctor if you have any of the above symptoms.

Treating a chesty cough.

Drink plenty of fluids. Subsequently, this will loosen up the mucus. Also use painkillers to bring down a fever.Finally, get plenty of rest and use Benylin Dry Cough Syrup. Use antihistamines if you have allergies.

How to take this medicine

Adults and Children aged 12 years and over: Take two 5ml spoonfuls four times a day.

Must not be given to Children under 12 years of age.

This medicine is suitable for most people but a few people should not use it. If you are in any doubt, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not use this medicine… If you have ever had a bad reaction to any of the ingredients. If you have had a cough for a few weeks that may be caused by asthma, or a cough which brings up a lot of mucus (phlegm). If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression
