What are eye infections?

Eye infectious are caused by harmful microorganisms, bacteria ,fungi and viruses. These can infect part of the eyeball or surrounding area. Your cornea, the moist membrane that lines the outer eye, can also get infected.The conjunctiva is a thin layer of tissue that covers the entire front of the eye. Antibacterial ointment can ease the symptoms of eye infections.

Regular eye tests at an optician can spot other possible eye conditions. For example, diabetes can cause retina damage. Also glaucoma can damage the optic nerve, due to the pressure of fluid inside your eye. Glaucoma can manifest as sudden eye pain or blurred vision. A simple eye exam can detect several other conditions. your general health can also affect your eyes. In addition, exercise and limit your caffeine intake. Finally, keep hydrated.

How to spot an eye infection.

You may have any of the following symptoms: Red eyes, pain,eye discharge,watery eyes, swollen eyes or blurry vision. You should not diagnose yourself but seek advise from a doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage

Adults, children aged 2 years and over and elderly

One drop instilled into the infected eye every 2 hours for the first 48 hours and 4 hourly thereafter. To be used during waking hours only. The course of treatment is 5 days.

Treatment with Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis Eye Infection Ointment should continue for 5 days even if symptoms improve.
