You may want to delay your periods for many different reasons. It could be because you’re going on holiday, you have an important event coming up or even if your periods are painful to deal with. Whatever your reason, there are many ways in which you can delay, skip or even stop your periods all together.

There are lots of different ways in which you can delay your periods medically by either taking the combined contraceptive pill or taking Norethisterone, which is an example of progesterone.

Norethisterone is a medication we can offer which can delay your periods for over 2 weeks. Norethisterone acts like the hormone progesterone. It works by keeping your progesterone levels high which then delays your period by stopping the lining of your womb from shedding. Norethisterone should be started 2 days before your period is due and you can continue to take it for up 20 days. You would usually get your period back within 2-3 days of stopping Norethisterone.

Norethisterone is very safe for most women but should not be used regularly. If you need to occasionally delay your period, then this a safe an effective way but unfortunately it is not safe for all women to take. If you request this medication from us, we will make sure it safe for you to take upon completion of the online consultation.

Please note, this medication is not a form of contraception. It should not be confused with any contraceptive pills and it will not protect you against pregnancy.
