About Acid Reflux

Acid reflux which is sometimes referred to as heartburn, is where stomach acid travels up to your throat from your stomach. Symptoms of acid reflux can cause a burning feeling in your chest and an unpleasant taste in your mouth.

You can help heartburn and acid reflux with things like eating smaller meals and thinking about timing your meals and not eating heavy meals closer to bedtime.

It’s not always obvious what causes acid reflux. It can be caused or made worse by some foods and drinks, stress or even pregnancy. However, when acid reflux happens repeatedly over time, it can cause GERD which is most commonly known as Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Many people experience acid reflux from time to time and Most people are able to manage the discomfort of acid reflux with lifestyle changes and medication. It’s time to get some help if you have acid reflux symptoms two or more times a week or if lifestyle changes don’t bring lasting relief. In many cases, lifestyle changes combined with medications are all you need to control the symptoms of acid reflux disease and to bring some comfort to yourself. If you have acid reflux you can ease these symptoms with medicine called a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces how much acid your stomach makes and could provide your with some help in managing the unpleasant symptoms.
