A migraine is a moderate to severe headache which is felt as an intense, throbbing pain on one side of the head. This is a common condition which affects as much as 1 in 5 people.

A migraine with aura is where you will have warning signs before it begins, such as seeing flashing lights. Many people find sleeping or laying down in a dark room often helps with migraine attacks.

The exact cause of migraines is unknown, but they are thought to be caused by a temporary change in the chemicals, blood vessels and nerves in the brain. Sometimes stress and certain foods can cause a trigger. If you suspect a specific trigger causing your migraines, it is best to try and avoid these things and try to maintain a generally healthy lifestyle.
